What We Believe
WHAT WE AS CHRISTIANS BELIEVE:
-
We believe in the one true God who lives eternally in three persons — the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that God created both this world and all living creatures in it. We believe that God continues to sustain (keep alive, support) this world. God also created the entire universe.
-
We believe that God is a God of love with whom we can have a personal relationship by trusting and believing in Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Word of God (the Bible). The Bible is fully trustworthy for guidance, for faith in God, and for correct living. The Bible is just as relevant now as it was when it was written thousands of years ago.
-
We believe in the dignity of all people, made male and female in the image of God to love, be holy, and to care for creation. However, the human race is corrupted by sin, and this does incur God’s wrath and judgement.
-
We believe in the incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary. This is God coming to us in human form. He is both truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
-
We believe in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He paid the price of our sin by dying in our place on the cross. Evil is defeated, and that by responding to this atoning sacrifice a person is reconciled with God.
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection (coming back to life) of Christ after he had died for our sins. We believe in his ascension to the Father, his continuing reign, and his continuing mediation as the one and only (not one of many) Saviour of the world.
-
We believe in the justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through believing in (trusting in) Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ (through new birth), empowers our discipleship, and enables our witness.
-
We believe in the Church, the body of Christ both local and worldwide. The church exists to worship God, proclaim the gospel, and to promote justice and love.
-
We believe in the return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to believers and eternal condemnation to non-believers. Jesus Christ will establish a new heaven and new earth in which the redeemed will live eternally.
SUMMARY
Yes, everyone without exception has sinned, however no-one is so sinful or bad that he or she is totally beyond the reach of God’s redemption. (‘The vilest offender, who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives’). From the hymn To God be the Glory by Fanny Crosby)

EXPLANATION OF CHRISTIAN TERMINOLOGY:
Atoning sacrifice - Jesus making amends for our sin by dying in our place on the cross.
Justification - being brought into a right relationship with God, being made right with God.
Witness - telling others that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and that by believing in Jesus Christ, a person can come into a right relationship with God.
The fundamental need of every man, woman, and child, regardless of their cultural background, race, religion, what part of the world they come from, is to be reconciled with God by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. Only by believing in Jesus can an eternity in the Lake of Fire, in Hell, be avoided. You really do not want to end up in that Lake of Fire…
